Occasional 6 - a finished top

Yes - Occasional 6 is now a top ! It looks VERY "out-of-shape" in this picture - it's not as bad as it looks, promised. Nothing what can't be cured with an iron and some quilting ;-))

I started off with the bottom part - and added the top part. As I already mentioned in this post, the big triangle fascinated me - and I wanted to keep it different from the two other parts. See the inset triangle with the curved strips? This is the back of a shirt made from sparkling fabric ;-)) I had to use stabilizer on it, otherwise it would have stretched like crazy. I bought it at a flea market last summer with the vague idea to use it in this quilt and almost forgot it ...
Without the strips the inset was too bold (and a bit too short ... - but of course, the too bold issue was the important fact -grin- ) So I added the strips. For even more distinction, I used curved seams for the strips and for the whole inset. I plan to quilt this part with wavy lines and avoid wavy lines in the two other parts.

So - one done, two to go! Off to take care of Occasional 4 and 5 ...

Occasional 6 ist jetzt ein fertiges Top! Auf dem Foto sieht es ziemlich scheps aus - es ist aber wirklich noch nicht mal halb so schlimm. Das läßt sich mit Bügeln und Quilten locker beheben ;-))

Das untere Teil war ja schon fertig, den oberen Teil habe ich ergänzt. Wie ich in diesem Post schon erwähnte, faszinierte mich der große Keil - und dann fiel mir auch noch dieses Shirt aus Glitzerstoff wieder ein !  Das Teil habe ich auf einem Flohmarkt letzten Sommer gekauft, damals schon mit der vagen Idee, es eventuell in diesem Quilt zu benutzen, und dann habe ich es doch erst mal auf die Seite gelegt. Aber jetzt ...mußte das Rückenteil dran glauben. Ich mußte Vlieseline unterbügeln, sonst hätte es sich der Verarbeitung komplett wiedersetzt ...
Allerdings war es "pur" zu heftig, zu dominant (außerdem war's ein kleines bißchen knapp ... - aber selbstverständlich war "zu dominant" der entscheidende Faktor -grins-). Also kamen die Streifen ins Spiel. Um den Keil noch mehr vom restlichen Quilt abzuheben, habe ich mit kurvigen Nähten gearbeitet, sowohl für die eingesetzten Streifen als auch für das Einsetzen des Keils. Diesen Teil werde ich auch mit entsprechenden kurvigen Quiltlinien quilten - und im Rest des Quilts darauf verzichten.

So - damit wäre ein Top fertig, zwei fehlen noch. Dann mal ran, es rufen Occasional 4 und 5 nach mir ...
